Where It All Began
Every good story starts with a tiny seed of inspiration. The 'GivingTalents' is no exception! The co-initiators/founders of GivingTalents Phil McGrath from Lancaster, UK works as 'Center Manager at the Cornerstone', whose work eases the pain of loneliness caused by social isolation by bringing community together to address this complex problem.
Amie Peacock resides in Vancouver, Canada and is a founder of 'Beyond The Conversation and a global social weaver, who is called to serve her neighbors through building of friendships and community to alleviate the pain of loneliness caused by social isolation. They call themselves “DREAMERS” of something great for the world.
On the very last day of their six months as 'Starling Collective Fellows' at GivingTuesday, the chat box was filled with emotions. I guess in some ways we can't wait to put into practice what we have learned from others who have actually been doing the hard work in growing their own movement, business or personal project and sharing those experiences with fifty eager and teachable community leaders and change-makers. But perhaps, we're saddened that our monthly collaboration and visits to each other's country (from the comfort of our own home) would finally come to an end.
Nonetheless, on this last day, the chat box became an inspirational “white board” of ideas. Amie posted a question that said, “wouldn't it be great if we start a campaign that focuses only on GivingTalents”? Phil responded, “that's a brilliant idea”! The rest is history as the saying goes!
GivingTuesday is the most trusted inclusive community of millions of givers, with activity in every country on every continent. We celebrate and uplift grassroots generosity, and generosity as a universally held value. Around the world, across diverse giving cultures, our network of local leaders in more than 80 countries and hundreds of communities innovate, collaborate, and inspire collective generosity as a way to build the world they want to live in.
Together, we can move the members of our Community from languishing to thriving in all aspects of their lives!
We strive and are open to collaborating with organizations, businesses, schools, non profits, clubs, faith communities, philanthropists, individuals, and other sectors who share this passion and purpose of creating a world where connection, belonging, engagement, and economic stability can co-exist.
